They really sink their teeth deep into a new story genre all the time, from the gritty film noir comic feel of Max Payne, to the Stephen King horror of Alan Wake, to the techy sci-fi of Quantum Break. Remedy should be praised with just how varied their games are. However with the show you know who the voice is and you even know that the enemy you fight isn't even that bad of guy. Without the show, it's just a voice guiding you through a building and an optional enemy fight depending on the choices you made. Those could totally be skipped and the only thing you'd really lose (aside from some characterization of Paul Serene and Martin Hatch) is the details of two characters who show up in the last act of the game. It got a bad wrap because of the optional tv show episodes within it. Probably my favorite time travel story in any medium which somehow didn't fall into the traps and pitfalls of other time travel stories that would lead to tons of plotholes.
